The Mexican government said its consulate in Texas was working to determine if Mexican citizens were among the casualties of the Uvalde shooting. CNN reported that the town is known for its large Mexican American constituency.
"The Government of Mexico strongly condemns this act of violence that has cost children's lives and devastated families in a predominantly Hispanic town.
The Foreign Ministry will make public the number of Mexicans involved when the information is confirmed by U.S. authorities, to ensure that it is reporting accurate and verified information," said the government website.
