Switzerland has confirmed its first case of monkeypox in the canton of Bern, the canton said Saturday in a statement.
The infected person contracted the virus through "close physical contact abroad," the statement added.
The individual consulted a doctor due to a fever, rash, and general malaise, and is isolating at home.
