Speaking at the opening ceremony for Memorial Day events for fallen IDF soldiers at the Western Wall, Israeli President Isaac Herzog stressed the importance of unity.

"Our sons and daughters, who fell in the defense of the state, fought together and fell together," Herzog said. "They did not ask, and no one asked them, whether people were right-wing or left-wing, religious or secular, Jew or non-Jew. Bereavement did not distinguish either. They fell as Israelis, for the defense of Israel."

"In the cemeteries, between the gravestones, there is only silence. Silence that requires us to focus on the revival of Israel, the rebuilding of Israel. United we must be, guarantors of one another. Because we are sisters and brothers," Herzog concluded.
