Russian President Vladimir Putin has met with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres this evening.
Putin told Guterres that Russian attacks on eastern Ukraine were necessary, explaining that, "This special military operation was essential in order to protect the lives of the people of Donetsk and Lugansk. The West prefers to ignore the fact that these two regions have been living under an aggressive regime."
