Responding to Arab efforts to prevent Jews from reaching the Western Wall by placing rocks on the sole access road leading to it, former premier Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the government for its failure to provide security in the heart of the nation's capital.

"It is unthinkable that we are allowing a situation to prevail in which dozens of buses are pelted with rocks and stones in the very heart of Jerusalem," he said.

"I am praying for the recovery of those who have been wounded," Netanyahu added. "We must take a strong line against terrorism and immediately restore order, peace and security, to Israel's capital."
