Responding to the confrontations on the Temple Mount and Arab attempts to prevent Jews from reaching the Western Wall by placing rocks on the sole access road leading to it, Shas party head Aryeh Deri criticized the government for failing to ensure that Jews can visit the Western Wall safely.
"This government is driven by its efforts to stay alive and is therefore preventing security forces from doing their job," he said. "We should not be tolerating a situation in which Jews visiting the Western Wall in honor of the Passover festival are pelted by stones by despicable terrorists whose objective is to commit murder.
"I call on this confused government, one that is clearly overwhelmed, to give a free hand to the security forces to immediately impose order and enable buses to arrive safely at the Western Wall," he said.
