Russian President Vladimir Putin referred to sanctions imposed by the West against Russia in the field of energy, saying that "the refusal of some Western countries to cooperate with us in terms of our energy resources has already hit millions of people in Europe, creating a real energy crisis," as reported by Reuters.

"Unfriendly countries have destroyed supply chains in Russia's Arctic region. Some countries are not fulfilling their contractual obligations, which has created problems for us," Putin said, adding that: "When it comes to oil, gas, and coal, we can increase consumption in the domestic market, and increase energy exports to regions of the world where they are truly needed."
