Responding to an earlier statement from MK Bezalel Smotrich who said that members of the current government should not be permitted to enter synagogues, Religious Affairs Minister Matan Kahana said that Smotrich's path of divisiveness was not the one preferred by most Israelis.

"Smotrich with his extremist policies is an embarrassment to Religious Zionism," Kahana wrote on Twitter. "Now he's trying to market his politics of hate to the synagogues. But no one is interested in such divisive statements. He should find a different way of competing with Ben Gvir and Maoz."
