The coordinator of government operations in the territories has announced that following a situational assessment, Defense Minister Benny Gantz has authorized the entry of Palestinians to the Temple Mount area this Friday for Muslim prayers.

Women of all ages and children (both boys and girls) up to the age of 12 will be permitted to visit the Temple Mount freely, as will men over the age of 50. Men between the ages of 40 and 50 will need a permit to enter.

In honor of Ramadan, Gantz has also decided to allow Palestinians from Judea and Samaria to visit first-degree relatives in pre-1967 Israel, on all days of the week except Friday and Saturday.

Gantz will hold another situational assessment next week, at which he will decide whether to expand the number of Palestinians eligible for family visits.
