Following revelations that the Isrotel hotel chain reported profits 76 percent higher than those of 2019, Finance Minister Avigdor Liberman has expressed his hope that the chain will return the COVID grant Isrotel received to "cover losses."

Isrotel received 12 million shekels from the government over the past two years.

"I look at Isrotel and see that they have been doing quite nicely, with 255 million shekels in profits," Liberman said. "I also note that their CEO is being paid eight million shekels per year. I recall the demands they made, and I think that it makes sense that they should return the money they received."
