The Israeli woman who was sentenced to death in the United Arab Emirates, after being arrested about a year ago with half a kilogram of cocaine, is a 43-year-old Haifa resident who owns a photography studio, according to Ynet.
The Haifa resident was arrested on March 17, 2021, after being invited by a Palestinian Arab acquaintance to work there in graphic design. The Haifa woman made her way to Dubai independently, to an apartment arranged for her in advance. A week after her arrival, police searched the apartment and found 500 grams of cocaine there, an amount considered there to be beyond the threshold for personal use.
The Haifa woman claims the drugs are not hers. She is represented by a UAE lawyer, who has filed an appeal in an attempt to reduce the sentence. The lower court sentenced her to death.
