The Dutch publisher of a book claiming Anne Frank was betrayed by Jewish notary, Arnold van den Bergh, who allegedly exposed Frank's hideout to the Nazis, said it was recalling the book.

According to a Reuters report, “The Betrayal of Anne Frank: A Cold Case Investigation,” received strong backlash from Jewish groups, historians, and independent researchers for its "lack of evidence."

A counter-report by WWII experts released on Tuesday pointed out that the allegations "did not withstand professional scrutiny."

“It is without exception very weak, sometimes based on an evidently erroneous reading of the sources, fabricated additions to sources, and has not in any way been subjected to a critical assessment,” concluded the study, adding that there was "no serious evidence for this grave accusation."
