The Chief Rabbi of Tel Aviv-Yafo, Rabbi Yisrael Meir Lau, paid tribute to Rabbi Kanievsky and said that he was a "walking Torah."
"He did not interfere in politics, contrary to his image in Israeli society. He spent all his life, day and night, in the study of Torah."
