Responding to a shooting incident this morning in the Bedouin town of Rahat, Israel's Public Security Minister, Omer Bar-Lev, defended the actions of police.
"During police operations this morning in Rahat against criminal elements in the city, a lone policeman encountered a person holding a pistol aimed at him. The policeman shot the resident in self-defense and acted as is expected of police officers in such situations.
"I appeal to the Mayor of Rahat to continue to work together with authorities to eradicate crime in the city," Bar-Lev added.
