A Russian missile attack on a Ukrainian military base on the Polish border killed at least 35 people, wounding 134, according to a Ukrainian official.

The official said Russian planes had fired around 30 rockets at the Yavoriv International Center for Peacekeeping and Security, located less than 15 miles from the border.

According to a Reuters report, NATA staff had previously been stationed at the base but the organization said no members were present at the time of the strike.

19 ambulances were reported headed for the area with black smoke billowing from from the scene.
