The mayor of Mariupol in southern Ukraine said that a six-year-old girl died of dehydration when her home was destroyed by Russian strikes.

The city has been left without water and electric power for the past nine days, with civilians unable to flee the devastated town.

Earlier, Ukraine's President Zelensky tweeted that this was the first case of a child succumbing to dehydration during a military assault since the Nazi invasion of WWII.
