At least 22 people were injured during a soccer match between Mexico's Queretaro and Atlas teams on Saturday before the game was suspended with multiple fights in the stands.
While some of the players fled to the locker rooms, others remained on the field.
The melee soon spread to the playing field itself, with some fans using chairs and metal bars for weapons.
Property and equipment were destroyed during the ensuing ruckus.
“So far there is no report of deaths; 22 people injured, nine of them taken to the General Hospital and of these, two are critical,” read a message from the local state civil protection agency.
