Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz accuses the Foreign Ministry of torpedoing the program to shorten the shifts of medical interns.
Horowitz said that "the budget department is trying to torpedo the shortening of interns' shifts. What stands between us and the implementation of the outline is the budget department's refusal to approve the use of a budget agreed between the finance, economy and health ministers. No employee has to work 26 hours in a row."
"The fact that so far this issue has been ignored by all health ministers and Israeli governments is a disgrace. We have committed ourselves to redress this injustice, and I do not intend to give up until we achieve the goal - in full," the minister clarified.
