The former Minister of Energy, MK Yuval Steinitz, calls on the government to give top priority to the rapid promotion of the construction of the Mediterranean gas pipeline between Israel and Europe.
"In this time of dramatic rise in energy prices worldwide, and of severe shortages of natural gas in Europe, it is of immense importance to promote Israel's ability to export gas directly to Europe through pipelines that cross the Mediterranean."
"This, of course, does not negate the importance of exporting gas to Europe through the liquefaction facilities in Egypt that have already begun, and the possibility of stretching another gas pipeline from Israel through Turkey," Steinitz said.
