MK Itamar Ben-Gvir (Religious Zionism) responded to the conversion reform approved by the Ministerial Committee for Legislation.
"This is a fake conversion that harms genuine ones. We will soon need to establish family registries of lineage to track who is genuinely Jewish," Ben-Gvir said. "Minister Kahana divides the public, harms our Jewish tradition, and leads to polarization in Israeli society. This is not a reform that will advance us but a dark policy that will harm the entire State of Israel."
