MK Meir Porush of United Torah Judaism condemned the decision of the Ministerial Committee to approve the conversion reform proposed by Minister Matan Kahana.
"Determining if a law is in accordance with Halakhah (Jewish law) can only be done by qualified rabbis, especially in terms of conversion. Unfortunately and shamefully, reformers and liberals are rejoicing over this new law, and for that reason, those that fear God's word will have no part in it."
