The Ministerial Committee for Legislation approved the conversion reform proposed by the Minister of Religious Affairs, Matan Kahana.
"I thank my colleagues in the coalition, the rabbis with whom we wrote the law, and the general public who support us. Together we took another step in preserving the Jewish identity of the State of Israel: a state conversion law, according to Halakhah (Jewish law), under the auspices of the rabbinate."
