The head of the Hatzor HaGlilit council, Shimon Suissa, calls on the government to allocate a budget for strengthening buildings in the city following the two earthquakes that occurred over the last day.
"4 earthquakes in a period of about one month is far beyond a warning sign. A week ago we inaugurated a project with the Minister of Housing in which we strengthened 9 buildings and now we are working to strengthen 2 more buildings but Hatzor HaGlilit and its neighbors are on the Syrian-African rift and this area is very dangerous and susceptible to significant earthquakes.
He said, "There is a great need to strengthen dozens of buildings. We have buildings in Hatzor HaGlilit that were built in the 1950s and are in danger. I call on the State of Israel to allocate budgets immediately to strengthen the old buildings. History proves that once a century there is a significant earthquake. The last one wad about 100 years ago. Let's wake up and prepare in time and soon before it is too late. "
