Finance Minister Avigdor Liberman opposes Minister Matan Kahana's proposal to repeal the grandchildren clause of the Law of Return in exchange for allowing civil marriages.
''There is no such deal - it is a lie. I hear reports tonight about a so-called deal that people could marry at consulates in exchange for repealing the grandchildren clause of the Law of Return. I do not know of any such proposal and Yisrael Beiteinu will never sit in a government that agrees to such nonsense. Civil marriage is an important initiative that should come unconditionally," said Liberman.
