Oren Henig, director of the Liba organization, commented on the deal proposed by Religious Services Minister Matan Kahana: Civil marriage in Israel in exchange for the repeal of the grandchildren clause in the Law of Return.
Henig said: "It is appalling to find out how far Minister Kahana is willing to go for power. He is seeking to sell the entire foundation of our religion by allowing civil marriages that will only serve to further divide the nation."
'' Kahana has harmed conversion, marriage, the rabbinate, kashrut, and the sanctity of the Western Wall. The people of Israel will not be silent. It is time to take to the streets, secular, religious, and Hareidi alike, and protect our Jewish tradition and character," Henig added.
