The Chief Rabbi of Israel Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef sent a letter of encouragement to all the Jewish communities in Ukraine.
"Aliyah (immigration) to the Holy Land is always a great and very important mitzvah, and at all times one should strive to reach the Holy Land and especially Jerusalem the Holy City, and now that there are fears of war, things join like a call from heaven, to make Aliyah from all foreign lands throughout the Diaspora to the Holy Land, and in particular to Jerusalem, the Holy City, where the Shechinah (Divine Presence) is located, and there is more protection and safety. "
