The Honenu legal aid organization assisted two detainees at a Jerusalem police station, who were arrested this afternoon (Sunday) in the Shimon Hatzadik neighborhood of Jerusalem. One of the detainees was arrested after defending himself from a mob who attacked him with clubs and thrown chairs; another detainee was arrested near the neighborhood for reasons that remain unclear. After interrogation, one of the detainees was released, and the other detainee is expected to be released in the next few hours.

An unusual incident occurred at the police station when one of the policemen threatened the detainee that if he did not remove his ritual fringed garment (Tzitzit), the officer would electrify him with a taser. The incident ended after the intervention of legal representatives from Honenu, who warned the officer that such a demand was illegal.
