The investigation into the helicopter disaster in which the late Lt. Col. Erez Sahiani and the late Major Chen Fogel were killed last month concluded that it occurred due to an exceptional technical malfunction - the first failure of its kind in the world.
The IDF said that the fighters handled the incident calmly and flew the helicopter until the moment it hit the water, and then drowned. The impact from the water left the pilots unconscious.
