Diaphorina citri, the Asian citrus bug, is a sap-sucking pest mainly found in southern Asia and has spread to other citrus growing regions, and is considered one of the most dangerous diseases to citrus fruits.
The bug was located on 750 dunams of Hefer Valley orchards, and now inspectors from the Ministry of Agriculture are attempting to combat the spread of the pest.
