The Likud commented on the establishment of a commission of inquiry into the purchase of the submarines and vessels: "The first thing the committee needs to look at is how anyone who has opposed the purchase of three more submarines all these years - suddenly approves the purchase, plus billions of shekels at the expense of the public, which would have been saved had the submarines been purchased on time."

The party said in a statement that "the purchase of the submarines is essential to maintaining Israel's security, and that this is a scandal that it has delayed until now because of failed politicians who have harmed state security to serve idle political claims."
