The Ministerial Committee for Legislative Affairs this morning approved MK Naama Lazimi (Labor)'s law, which stipulates that workers recovering from serious illnesses will be entitled to sick pay from the day of their absence.
The Sick Pay Act stipulates that an employee who is absent from work due to illness is entitled to full sick pay only from the fourth day onwards, and half pay on the second and third days. On the first day of his absence, the worker is not entitled to sick pay at all.
MK Lazimi commented: "This law will allow those recovering from serious illnesses to return to work properly. There is no reason why someone recovering from a serious illness ought to receive sick pay only from the fourth day onward."
