The chairman of the Constitution Committee, MK Gilad Kariv (Labor), commented on reports of a plea deal for former Prime Minister Netanyahu.

"The offenses attributed to MK Netanyahu relate mainly to the period in which he held governmental positions. For that reason, any plea deal must unambiguously include an admission of shameful conduct," he commented.

"The date of the Attorney General's retirement from office cannot be a consideration in this matter, or in any other matter concerning the state's position in the plea bargain. To the extent necessary, in order to ensure the imposition of that condition and its punishment as part of the bargain, the decision should be left to whoever succeeds AG Mandelblit, "MK Kariv added.
