In an interview with Galei Tzahal, Prof. Eran Segal of the Weizmann Institute of Science referred to the spread of the Omicron.
"We have already crossed the 100,000 cases a day, throughout the pandemic we knew there were more infected than verified - we miss 3 or 4 times the real number. One in 10 or 8 people will be infected at the height of the wave, people at risk need to be careful," Segal said.
When asked when the Omicron wave will end, Segal replied: "Since we do not expect to see a dramatic change in conduct, within a week or two we should be at the peak of of the incidences. Combining the doubling rate with the fact that the Omicron is less viralent- I hope we don't reach the same level of incidents that we reached in the past.
