The Jerusalem district court has refused the request of police to extend the detention of two people who were arrested on suspicion of having caused damage to vehicles owned by Arabs in the Shimon Hatzaddik/Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood.
The two were arrested on Saturday night and held in detention until today. Police had wanted to hold them for an additional five days but Judge Elad Lang ordered their release with restrictive conditions.
The police then asked for a stay in the court's order, to give them time to lodge an appeal with the regional court, but Judge Lang rejected the request. The two are being represented by attorneys Nati Rom and David Halevy of Honenu.
