Following the government's decision to expedite passage of the Electricity Law, MK Dr. Shlomo Karhi (Likud) suggested establishing a shadow parliament, "until this disgusting regime is removed from power."

"Now that the government has taken this anti-democratic step in an effort to silence us, we have no other option than to establish an alternative parliament," Karhi said. "They are silencing us in the Knesset, in the committees, anywhere they can. What we need is a parliament that will judge, debate, oversee, and legislate laws that genuinely represent the will of the people."
