Responding to revelations published by Israel National News on the terms of the new conversion law being proposed by Religious Affairs Minister Matan Kahana, the Chotam organization has raised an additional alarm.

"The cat is out of the bag. For years, faithful Jews have been battling against the Reform movement and its attempts to exert control over conversions, and now it has emerged that it is none other than Minister Kahana himself who is opening the floodgate to Reform incursions into the conversion process," the organization said in a statement.

"The Kahana conversion program will produce fictitious converts, people who won't actually be Jews but will think that they are. This is one massive fraud perpetuated first and foremost against the so-called-converts themselves, but worse still, one that will create a rift in the Jewish People. If this law passes, it will no longer be possible to rely on the state's official records, and before getting married, people will have to conduct extensive investigations to make sure that neither party is someone who benefited from Kahana's 'express conversion' process.

"This new law authorizes Reform conversions which is a national catastrophe such as the Jewish People has never before experienced. This Kahana law is bad for the Jews and it must be stopped."
