Finance Minister Avigdor Lieberman responded to the publication of a letter from a number of rabbis calling for the boycott of rabbis who grant kosher status in another city.
On his Facebook account, Minister Lieberman wrote, "A boycott? Your coercion will not work this time. The kosher reform that allows rabbis from today to grant kashrut without a geographical connection has benefited the restaurateurs and diners. Boycotts will not work, kashrut belongs to everyone and not just one stream or another and I'm sure everyone knows for themselves what is right for them. We will continue with determination to implement this important reform that dismantles the monopoly on kashrut in the State of Israel. "
