Minister of Finance, Kobi Bar-Nathan, published the report of the salary expenses of the health system for 2020.
The data shows that the number of employees in the health system in 2020 was 111,000 and the average salary was NIS 20,642 per month. The report also shows that there are significant salary gaps between specialist doctors and interns and that the salaries of senior specialist doctors have increased by 77% since 2009, almost double in relation to the increase in interns' salaries.
As part of the system's policy to incentivize hospital workers in the periphery, the report shows that the salaries of doctors in hospitals in the periphery are thousands of shekels higher than their counterparts in the hospitals in the center.
