Opposition leader Netanyahu criticized Justice Minister Gideon Sa'ar following his decision to set up a committee to formulate recommendations regarding the state's attitude toward social media.

"Sa'ar, who does not have enough voters to pass the electoral threshold and receives zero public support, is trying to silence the Israeli public by advancing a law to censor social networks, as well as anti-democratic laws that allow for the search of civilian homes without a judge's order and the disqualification of prime ministerial candidates as is customary in Iran and Syria."
