Portugal’s Prime Minister Antonio Costa on Tuesday announced that the country would be reimposing due to fears over the threat from the Omicron variant of COVID-19.

As part of the restrictions, working from home will be mandatory and discotheques and bars will be closed from midnight Saturday. In addition, a negative test result must be shown to enter cinemas, theaters, sports events, weddings and baptisms during that period. On New Year’s Eve, no more than 10 people can gather in the street, and drinking alcohol outdoors will be prohibited.
