Defense Minister Benny Gantz has authorized the involvement of the IDF and the Home Front Command in organizing vaccinations, in light of the spread of the Omicron coronavirus variant.
Prior to this evening's meeting of the coronavirus cabinet, Gantz told senior defense officials to prepare for a scenario of up to 5,000 new COVID cases per day.
