The beaches of Tel Aviv-Yafo, Herzliya and Bat Yam have been banned for bathing due to a warning from the Ministry of Health regarding the fear of seawater pollution on the beaches as a result of the rains and the discharge of surface runoff mixed with sewage from the Reading station in Tel Aviv.

The beaches that are open during the winter season and are forbidden for bathing are: Tzuk Tzafon, Tel Baruch, The Seperate Beach, Frishman, Jerusalem, Charles Clore and Givat Ha'aliya in Tel Aviv and Hasharon beaches and Acadia Darom in Herzliya.
