MK Shlomo Karhi (Likud) has attacked the government's intention to pass a controversial law barring certain content from social media networks, a law being promoted by the New Hope party.

"This is a law designed to block free speech on social media - this, along with draconian laws broadening permissions to search homes, makes the country into a place where only socialist commissars will feel comfortable," Karhi said.

"Where's the media? Where is the left wing, those people who would have set the country ablaze if we would have dared to pass such laws? You should be ashamed of yourselves. They are afraid, but they don't scare us, and we will fight this with all our might," he vowed.
