A 16-year-old youth has been indicted on a charge of causing grievous bodily harm to a fellow student, after attacking him with a stick and kicking him.
According to the terms of the indictment, the two students learned in the same class and got into a fight during a sports lesson. A teacher separated them, but the defendant later found a broomstick and waited for the victim outside. When the victim passed by, the defendant attacked him with the stick, hitting him till he fell to the ground, at which point he continued to strike him in the head with the stick.
The victim was hospitalized for an extended period and needed emergency surgery to his head.
The prosecution has asked for the defendant to be held in detention until the conclusion of proceedings against him.
