The left-wing organization Peace Now is responding to the postponement of the construction plan in Atarot until after an environmental survey has been conducted.
"The plan to build a new and harmful settlement in Atarot must be shelved. In a government that was formed on a commitment to a political status quo, a plan of 9,000 housing units on the outskirts of Ramallah should not have come to the committee's agenda at all."
"We hope that the government will take the time to re-examine the damages of the plan for the prospect of peace, the development of Jerusalem, and Israel's relations with the United States," the organization said.
