The Yesha Council expressed its deep sorrow over the death of Rabbi Gideon Perl, "one of the pillars of the world of the rabbinate in the settlements," as it put it.

"The rabbi devoted his entire life to the world of education and the spirit, always strove for truth and justice - he was one of the founders of Alon Shvut and was the rabbi of the community for decades, established the court of monetary issues in Gush Etzion, was Av Beit Din and Dayan of the conversion court, a teacher and educator to merited to raise many generations of students.
