The chairman of the Torah Judaism faction, MK Yakov Litzman, attacks the conversion plan of Minister of Religions Matan Kahana.

"Minister Matan Kahana's conversion reform exposes the Jewish identity in the State of Israel to an existential danger, of assimilation. This is dangerous, invalid and contrary to the law, which will make conversion in Israel conservative, and will force the observant to organize an alternative genealogy.

He added that "Minister Kahana's remarks about the establishment of an 'external rabbinical committee' are part of his continued attempts to harm the chief rabbinate and its halachic authority. The outline of the government led by Bennett-Lapid-Lieberman, moved by Matan Kahana, takes us back to what it was in those days, to dark days when Torah and Judaism were at risk. We believe and are sure that Israel is eternal. "
