A bill has been submitted by MKs from Shas and the Likud to recognize the Armenian genocide, a point of significant tension between Israel and Turkey.
According to the report, the Turks are worried that the Meretz party, which has led similar initiatives in the past, will join the opposition and help pass the law. Senior government officials said the proposal would not be approved.
