The Knesset plenum approved in a preliminary reading the Knesset Member Idit Silman's Deposits and Social Rights Bill for the Self-Employed, to which similar proposals by Knesset members Miki Zohar and Keren Barak were attached.
It was decided to equate tax laws, social rights and social protection of self-employed workers with those of employees. This includes proposing to allow a self-employed worker to receive maternity benefits, compensation for reserve service and unemployment insurance and to deposit social deposits such as pensions, severance pay and benefits as well as the ability to use them on the same terms as an employee.
