The Knesset plenum this evening (Monday) unanimously approved the bill brought by Justice Minister Gideon Saar to disqualify evidence obtained illegally.
Justice Minister Gideon Saar said in response: "For me, this is closing a circle after I submitted my first bill on this issue back in 2005. This is an important move that protects 3 important values: the purity of the judicial process, the right of defendants to fair trial and the duty of law enforcement. I see great value both in anchoring the rule in the law and in expanding it. "
"As I pledged in my election campaign and when I took office, I am committed to strengthening the rights of the civilian party in the legal process in the face of powerful state systems, and I will continue to do so," Saar said.
